Every litre of treated water that WBW puts on their plantations is a litre that the ratepayers of hervey bay have payed for , and yet every litre of treated water that WBW could put back thru the system via an artifcial wetland system at Burgowan , would be a litre stored in Lenthalls Dam , even without a grafitti image on the dam wall! The ratepayers should be asking , ' are the plantations investments akin to the scams of recent times?, can we trust this mob?

As a biodiversity consultant , i fail to see where the profit margin falls for plantation systems , these plantations have been subsidised by taxpayers funding from the QLD labor goverment , and yet this mob of wet dreamers claim they are a money making machine! , there is no demonstrated economic rate of return for these unsustainable so called 'green ' ecosystem friendly projects .

If it was my tretaed water they were using , i would be asking for a return on the use of water which i have payed for , or at least a direct return of some of the water i have used at a discounted rate , when it is retreated and put back in the system !.

Thankyou Strewthisback, that was point i was trying to make. As a wise man once told me, "assumptions are the mother of all stuff ups".
By the way, the "am" in "am why not?" stands for "ante meridiem". It's latin for "before noon" and is commonly used today for denoting the first 12 hours of the day - the morning.
Did you assume it was part of my name?

"MY boss pays for a couple of “knock-off” beers once a week, and allows one staff member to collect it in the work truck. Does this mean his business is out of control?"

Your boss is using his money, "am why not". Wide Bay Water is using mine and every other ratepayers'. Don't know about you, but I'd rather my money was used to fix our water problems and not on a piss-up for the lads.

Strewthisback writes: With respect culo, many companies allow their employees to use company vehicles after hours including RDOs, perhaps the person in question has such use of the vehicle and was in fact just buying drinks for himself on his day off. To make judgement we really should get all the facts and not just make assumptions.

That said, all employees of prominent organisations need to conduct themselves in a professional manner when utilising company resources. Perhaps popping down the local for supplies would be better done "after hours" or in a private vehicle.

Non-existent giant logos on dams, beer runs in company vehicles, gee they really are reeling out of control. If any other trade related business in town goes to the bottle-o in their work vehicle, no-one bats eyelid. BUT GOOD GOD THOSE ARE OUR TAX DOLLARS!
Not another example of an organsiation out of control, just another example of someone making assumptions and accusations based on one fleeting moment, and the thought that because a company uses tax payers money, it means they work for us.

The time: About 1.30pm Wednesday May 14.
The place: The carpark of Bay Plaza (the one at Woolies at Pialba closest to the RSL).
The scene: A Wide Bay Water employee loading two cartons of beer which he had just picked up from the bottle shop into a dual cab Wide Bay Water ute.
The question: Was he on work time? If not, what was he doing using a ratepayer-funded vehicle for a beer run?
Another example of an organisation out of control.

I know the thought of our valuable tax dollars going towards something not seen as benefiting the community makes some people irrate. Does anyone actually know how much this logo was going to cost?
And where was this money going? To a local business, who in turn im sure would need supplies from other local businesses.
The last comment about the logo being pulled due to budget restraints suggests to me that maybe WBW in fact wasnt injecting our hard earned dollars into a pointless expensive exercise afterall.
Has anyone thought about the crestgate system itself? Why are we getting so much national and international interest? Its because even though the council and WBW can do things that annoy some people, what they have done here is an incredible feat. The world is going to be looking in on our little dam because of the work WBW has put into this project. I know that when i make something i'm proud of i like to put my name on it, why cant they?
I would suggest our rate payers putting their hard earned money into this dam actually make the effort to find out about the crestgate and what they have contributed too. It might just make you proud.
And before you go for a swim, you should always check the depth of the water before they jump in ;)

Seems our one eyed editor is now one legged. NPN sat on a wall surveying all around her, not on the ball she had a fall, and broke her leg, in three bloody places. Guess she'll hop right into her job when she gets back from holidays in WA.....can't help but think of something called "Karma"
